Dear Harvard College Students,

Welcome back to Harvard College and to a bright new year ahead. I hope each of you enjoyed a restorative break and the opportunity to spend time with friends and family. As the new semester begins, I am eager – as I know you are – to immerse myself in the work ahead of us. To be sure, we have much to do.

This will be a critical and exciting semester for the Harvard College community. In the coming months, we will continue our efforts to strengthen the General Education program and academic support services. We will create new social engagement opportunities in our Houses and on campus. We will carry on with the crucial work of preventing sexual assault on campus. And we will redouble efforts to build a greater sense of inclusion here at the College.

We are well prepared to tackle these important challenges, thanks to the thoughtful and dedicated members of our community – our faculty and staff, and you, our students. No one of us can meet these goals alone, and to be sure – no one of us has a monopoly on good ideas. During the busy months ahead, I encourage you to get involved on campus, to engage your fellow classmates in conversation, and to propose new solutions to the tasks we face.

I look forward to working with each of you during this pivotal moment in our College’s history.

Warmly,
Dean Khurana
