Urban Evolution: Women’s Health in the World’s Cities

As you are aware, the world is undergoing a remarkable transformation, becoming more urbanized at a record pace. With this shift come significant changes to demographic, epidemiologic, environmental, economic and social trends. More than half of the world’s population now lives in urban areas, a number projected to increase to more than 60% by 2030. Understanding the pace and public health impact of urbanization and the worldwide migration to cities is critical for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Bringing together global experts, this year’s events will provide an opportunity to reflect on the distinct health challenges faced by women and girls in the world’s cities as well as to discuss promising solutions for improving the health of urban residents.
