Wacky Words of Wisdom
School’s out (hopefully), the sun’s blazing (for most of us), and summer seems to be taking shape (in some form or another). For those rising seniors freaking out about this fall’s college application season, fear not! The process of applying to schools can be tough, scary, and just plain poopy – but it doesn’t have to be!
What’s so fun about the adventure of preparing for and applying to college? Well, it is one of the rare moments where you get to showcase and celebrate all that makes you special! Here are some zany things to keep in mind that’ll set you on your way:
Tocking Your Tick:
Do the thing that makes you tick! For some that’s research, for others reading - whatever it is, you’ll know it when you do it. This stuff makes you colorful; it drives your soul to passion and your body to action. There’s no formula or model that exists as a standard of success. Your best bet is to be your best you – that starts with ticking to your heart’s content.
Becoming a Store:
Stock yourself and open up shop! You’ve laid the foundation and built the building, now round up all the goodies you’ve been growing and sell them. Applications are all about giving a glimpse into who you are. Carefully consider what you’ve done and choose what best shows the sort of person you are. Just knowing these things gives you the ability to display and showcase them - something that’s necessary for any store.
Setting Your Clock:
Use time for what it is! Taking time to think, breathe, and live will do you wonders, and once time is up there’s no going back. Enjoy the smaller moments that life often hides in plain sight. They fill you with tales worth telling and often are far more valuable than the time you’ll spend on some Saturday taking some test.
Finding the For:
What did you do all this for? No school is looking for personless people. Everything you’ve spent so much of yourself on contributes to whom you are as a person, and as you piece these things together keep that in mind.
Think those thoughts as you start your summers and don’t forget to be bold, to be brave and to be brilliant.
