Meet Cata Butler
Hi! My name is Cata Butler, and I am a rising sophomore originally from West Branch, Michigan. Next year, I will be living in Pforzheimer House. I am studying Pre-Medicine, and I plan to concentrate (major) in Molecular & Cellular Biology with a secondary (minor) in Math. Outside of the classroom, I participate in several extracurricular activity groups including the Catholic Student Association, Harvard TAPS (tap-dancing), STAHR (Student Astronomers at Harvard-Radcliffe), and the Intramural Sports program. I enjoy spending my free time with friends, checking out Boston, trying new restaurants, attending sporting events, and participating in different Harvard programs (including trips to concerts and sporting events in the greater Boston area). I am very excited to work with the Harvard First Generation Program in order to share with others my experiences coming from a very rural community all the way to Harvard. As I was the first from my high school to ever attend Harvard—or any Ivy League school—I was definitely nervous to come. But I have since found that being a first-generation student makes you an integral part of the Harvard community; I have found a network of support and a family through the first-generation students on campus, truly making Harvard my home.
