Meet Michael Richard
Hey there! My name is Michael Richard, I am currently a senior at Harvard College living in Mather House, and I was born and raised in Massachusetts. My hometown of Fitchburg (half way between Boston and Amherst to give you some perspective) is an urban community with an incredibly diverse resident population, one of the things I wanted most at my college and something that is embodied so well at Harvard. I am pursuing a concentration in Economics and a secondary in Government; my studies are based around wealth inequality, poverty, upward mobility, and the social capital development. Outside of class I intern for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and row for Mather’s intramural crew team. In my free time, I enjoy photography, skiing, traveling, exercising, and meeting new people. It is such an honor to be a part of the Harvard Financial Aid Initiative. Harvard’s programs like HFAI as well as its extensive financial aid opportunities were not only one of the main reasons I choose Harvard, but without them Harvard would not have even been a possibility for me.
