A summer abroad in such a spectacular city is unforgettable. London - the heart of culture, food, and dreams - is a place where history and modern life intersect, from royal traditions to the performances of the West End and the beauty of its parks. 

During the summer before my junior year, I studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science, taking courses in International Law and Development in the International Political Economy. These were interesting courses in which I gained a solid understanding of international law and macroeconomics. This perfectly aligned with my concentration at Harvard in Government and Economics. Each day began with a three-hour lecture and section, followed by discussions that challenged and inspired me in these areas. 

One of the best parts of studying abroad at LSE was being in the heart of London. After classes, I’d take a 10-minute walk to Covent Garden, explore the shops and restaurants, then walk back home from campus, crossing the Westminster Bridge, observing the London Eye and Big Ben. It was my first time living alone in a foreign country, and it taught me so much. From cooking my own meals to navigating the Tube Underground, I learned independence in ways I hadn’t before. More importantly, I made friends from around the world who study in different countries like Austria, Mexico, Singapore, and Australia. On weekends, I explored other cities, visiting Oxford, Cambridge, and even Edinburgh. It gave me the full experience of a UK summer. 

Summer in London was a gem, an experience of exploration, learning and fun. I was able to go to a Premier League game and watch so many performances and films! Watching West End shows such as Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Back To The Future, and Wicked reminded me of how you can find your love and hobbies even on the other side of the world. 

I am grateful for the summer I had and the memories I made with both old and new friends. London will always be the city that holds a special place in my heart.
