Biography
Hi there! My name is Opeoluwa, but I usually go by Ope. I am a senior in Eliot House, and I hail from Saint Louis, MO. I'm studying Molecular and Cellular Biology with a secondary (our word for minor) in African American Studies. When I'm not answering your questions through the UMRP, I serve as one of the co-chairs of the Black Community Leaders. I hope to foster community between all Black students within the College, and beyond, and provide administrative support to all the undergraduate Black organizations. I am also the Advocacy and Community Engagement Chair for Harvard Undergraduate Black Harvard Advocates, serve on Eliot's House Committee (HoCo), and am on the Layout board for the Harvard Yearbook Publications where I design spreads for the annual Yearbook. I love photography, visual art, and activism. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
One of my favorite parts of Cambridge summers is how beautiful the sky gets as the sun starts to set. I've dubbed them "cotton candy skies" due to the vibrant pinks, blues, and purples that the sky takes on during this time.
Kuumba had a winter concert last year that focused on the importance of Black Love; this photo, which captures the power of intimacy, was taken during the dance section of the concert.

During the last days of first-year, I organized an outdoor picnic in Harvard Yard for the Black Class of 2022. There was pizza, music, and an entertaining, but yet chaotic game of musical chairs.
