As I write this letter, I know that my words cannot begin to express the emotions or claim the lived experiences that so many of us are feeling in the wake of the events in Ferguson and Staten Island. On my daily walk from Cabot House to the Yard, I see the leaves changing color and falling from the trees. I am reminded of how the transition from autumn to winter gradually reveals a different landscape and allows me to appreciate parts of our campus that I did not notice before.
