What was your professional path after college? I attended medical school at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health where I earned my MD and Master's in Public Health. I did my residency and fellowship in Pittsburgh, PA at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I've worked in a number of roles as a psychiatrist.
What fills your time now? Professionally and otherwise? Work, having 4 busy children ages 11-18, travel, kayaking and keeping in touch with friends.
How did your academic experience at Harvard guide you in your post-grad pursuits? I feel like I learned how to think and I was put in a position to have success beyond college.
What was a favorite class you took and why? I took some really cool advanced psychology seminars. One on Schizophrenia with Dr. Jill Hooley and another on Mood Disorders with Dr. Patricia Deldin stand out.
What were you involved in extracurricularly? I was on the football team. I enjoyed intramural sports, spending time with my roommates and I did some volunteer work through the Phillips Brooks House.
How did your extracurricular activities impact your Harvard experience? And have they had an impact on your post-grad life? I learned to manage my time better with the commitment of football.
What is a favorite memory of Harvard House life? Playing tag after hours in the Mather Common Areas with my roommates.
What is your favorite Harvard tradition and why? There are so many, the Harvard vs. Yale football games, commencement, Head of the Charles all come to mind, but arguably those are so memorable because of the people around me.
What advice do you have for someone applying to college? College is what you make of it. Take advantage of the opportunity.
