The Award Goes To: The 2026 Johnnies

March 28, 2026

The second annual Johnnies award show served looks, laughter, spirited speeches, and a lot of Housing fun.

This year’s Johnnies had capacity for many more attendees, all eager to see which Harvard House would take home a trophy awarding their Housing Day video. Designed as an ode to the Oscars, the Johnnies incorporated elements of glitz and glam with Dynamic Crimson Key Society hosts, Bernardo de Moura Sequeira ’26 & Joy Ho ’26, red carpet interviewers, photobooth opportunities, and friendly rivalry acceptance speeches.

Rolling out the Red Carpet

Students had the option to dress in their most glamourous fashions and take picture-perfect photos of the big night at the professional photobooth. Complete with a crimson carpet, Memorial Hall transept became the hot spot for red carpet interviews, capturing guest and House members’ excitement, pride, and winner predictions.

Student Performances Spice Up the Night

Ahmed Eldeeb ’28 and Sudhish Swain ’28 opened and closed the Johnnies with memorable, high-energy DJ sets. During the show, Eldeeb and Swain were also joined by Eliot House Faculty Dean David Elmer for a 90s music breakdown to get the crowd going. The improvisation group, Immediate Gratification Players (IGP) engaged its audience in a Housing Day-themed improv set that had the crowd laughing out loud, and Expressions Dance Troupe performed a dance number in their House gear.

And the Winners Are…

One of the most notable changes to this year’s program was that students were able to cast their votes for 5 of 6 categories: Video of the Year, Best Editing & Visual Effects, Best Lyrics, Best Choreography, and Most House Pride. After students cast their votes, Lowell House was awarded with Video of the Year, Currier House with Best Editing & Visual Effects, Dunster House with Best Lyrics, Adams House with Best Choreography, and Winthrop House with Most House Pride.

The sixth and final award—the Harvard Choice Award—was decided on by a panel of esteemed Harvard community members identified by members of the Crimson Key Society. The Harvard Choice Award was presented by Leverett House Faculty Deans Eileen Reynolds & Dan Deschler and awarded to Lowell House.
