Biography

Howdy y’all! My name is Emily Ramirez, and I’m a junior concentrating in Sociology with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. I was born and raised in Houston, TX, but my parents are both from Oaxaca, Mexico. I currently live in Leverett House (best house!). On campus, I’m involved in the Mariachi Véritas de Harvard, the First Year Retreat Experience (FYRE), the Peer Advising Fellow program, and Harvard Consulting on Business and the Environment. Outside of school, I love to crochet, work out, and explore new restaurants in Boston! I’ve been working with the Harvard First Generation Program since the beginning of my first year because I interacted with HFGP coordinators during my own application process, and their insight and stories helped me see that I, too, could call Harvard home. I hope to be a resource to other first-generation students, whether prospective applicants, admitted students, or current students, as they navigate the application process and life at Harvard! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
