Emily RamirezCategory HFGP
Howdy, y’all! My name is Emily Ramirez, and I’m a sophomore concentrating in Sociology with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. I was born and raised in Houston, TX, but my parents are both from Mexico. I currently live in Leverett House (best house!). On-campus, I’m involved in Act on a Dream (Harvard’s premier immigrants’ rights group) and the First Year Retreat Experience (FYRE), I serve as a Peer Advising Fellow, and I participate as an analyst for Harvard Consulting on Business and the Environment. Outside of school, I love to crochet, work out, and explore new restaurants in Harvard Square! I’ve been working with the Harvard First Generation Program since the beginning of my first year because I interacted with HFGP coordinators during my own application process, and their insight and stories helped me see that I, too, could call Harvard home. I hope to be a resource to other first-generation students, whether prospective applicants, admitted students, or current students, as they navigate the application process! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
