Category HFGPBiography
Hello friends! My name is Lizbeth, and I am a junior in Currier House studying Environmental Science and Engineering. I am from Richmond (CA), the City of Pride and Purpose located in the East Bay. I was born and raised in California, but my family is from Michoacán, Mexico. On campus I am a Peer Advising Fellow for first-years, a mentor for the Emerging Leaders Program at Radcliffe, work at the Harvard Box Office, and am a part of various clubs like Latinas Unidas, HACIA Democracy, Engineers Without Borders, and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). I try to ensure that everything I am involved with on and off campus is reflective of things that are important to me, such as leadership, mentorship, and community organizing. During my free time I love to explore different places, go on runs, watch movies with my blockmates, and cook yummy food! As a first-gen and low-income student, I know that navigating Harvard can seem daunting and overwhelming. I’m grateful to have a community of other first-gen students who have made Harvard feel like home and taught me to embrace the first-gen experience. I know that exploring college options and navigating the application process can bring a lot of questions and unfamiliar feelings, but we are here to support you! I look forward to answering questions, sharing my experiences, and connecting with you.
