Hey, Admitted Student!
My name is Kaitlyn. I’m a current first-year at Harvard, and just one year ago, I had the incredible opportunity to attend our admitted students weekend known as Visitas. In case you aren’t already planning to join us on campus from April 26 to 27, I’ve talked to some of my friends to try and convince you. Take it from the current students themselves:
Why should YOU attend Visitas?
1. Catch a glimpse into life at Harvard.
“Visitas is your first chance to explore the campus and what it has to offer as an accepted student. You get to eat in the First-Year Dining Hall, attend any lecture you wish, learn the personal story and experience of a current student, attend student organization meetings, get to know professors and departments here to help you, and so much more. Exploring the campus will also help you get to know it better, reducing any confusion you may have when you move in and begin classes.” - Alex, Class of 2029
“I got a sense of what campus was like in terms of walkability, size, safety, etc. This gave me a better understanding of how I would do in adjusting to this new city lifestyle compared to my more rural setting back home.” - Grace, Class of 2028
“Visitas gives you a glimpse of what it is like going into Harvard with both academic and social life! I was able to explore cool spots like going to the Law School Library and eating in the Square.” - Mahbuba, Class of 2027
“From the activities fair to late-night pizza runs, Visitas was a wonderful way to meet my future classmates and start to engage in the Harvard community. My experience opened my eyes to the sheer amount of possibilities and tight-knit community that makes Harvard such an incredible place to be.” - Anika, Class of 2029
2. Meet the Harvard community.
“Visitas was the convincing factor in my decision to join the Harvard community. By connecting with peers who shared similar backgrounds and interests, I was able to see the immense support I would receive as a student. It was then that I knew Harvard would be my home for the next few years.” - Melissa, Class of 2027
“I went into it thinking people were going to be stuck-up and judgmental. I was honestly shocked and overwhelmingly pleased that the exact opposite was true. Everyone I met at Visitas was so incredibly, humble, kind, and genuine. I made so many friendships that one weekend that I still talk to and hang out with regularly.” - Emily, Class of 2028
“I was able to meet upperclassmen, got tours of upperclassmen housing, and met so many professors through the academic fair.” - Jane, Class of 2027
“At Visitas, I saw the future community I would be a part of, which really set my decision to come to Harvard in stone.” - Sarah, Class of 2028
3. Enjoy fun and insightful programming.
“I had the chance to see the kinds of opportunities Harvard offered through the Academic Fair, the Extracurricular Activities Fair, academic open houses, and the Mignone Center for Career Success Open House.” - Laurel, Class of 2029
“One event I enjoyed was visiting the Harvard Museum of Natural History at night and viewing the exhibits like the glass flowers exhibit and the dazzling Earth & Planetary Sciences Gallery. At Visitas, there are events covering a wide variety of disciplines and interests!” - Selina, Class of 2028
“I joined Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business after attending an event at Visitas, and it has been the best decision I've made at Harvard. I have gotten so many incredible opportunities from it, including traveling on two of their international trips and a visit to NYC!” - Emily, Class of 2026
“I met some of my closest friends, including one of my blockmates, during Visitas! Also, as a Black student, it was amazing to attend the BSA [Black Students Association] barbecue and find such a large and loving community so early on.” - Iman, Class of 2026
“I sat in an LS1B lecture with Professor Berry and thought, “Wow… this is where I want to learn.” Then I went to some of the socials of the organizations I am proudly a part of now, and for the first time, I felt like I could belong here. As I told a friend afterward: ‘I walked in unsure, but I left knowing Harvard was home.’” - Nazifa, Class of 2029
My final remarks:
Deciding where to attend college for the next four years is no small commitment. If you are considering Harvard, I highly encourage you to join us at Visitas, where you can experience campus life for yourself and become immersed in all our community has to offer. I promise you won't regret it. And if you see any of us around during your stay, please say hello!
