Dear Harvard College Students,

After weeks of hard work, study sessions, and late nights, spring recess is here. I hope this time off will give you a chance to catch up on that lost sleep, to reconnect with friends or family, and to take a much-needed pause to reflect, restore, and renew.

Each year around this time I reflect on our annual Housing Day events – and this year was no different. I was delighted yesterday to see you laughing, sharing moments with your friends, and showcasing your pride and spirit for your House communities. Watching you welcome the newest members of your respective Houses reminds me of the power our unique residential system has to create an inclusive, welcoming community.

With spring comes the promise of hope and new growth. Whether you are heading home, traveling somewhere else, or staying in Cambridge, I hope you have a wonderful recess. As always, I am deeply grateful for all you do to make Harvard College such a great community.
