What was your professional path after college?
Spent 1 year in account management at Facebook, and found myself learning a lot and performing well. However, I didn't feel like it was the right fit. I decided I wanted to pivot into creative marketing and product-focused work, so I started to learn more about early-career product marketing roles in tech. In 2021, I accepted an offer at Google to join their Associate Product Marketing Manager program. I spent my first rotation leading the Creator Program at Google Play where I led creative influencer marketing campaigns for video games and now work at Google where I help launch the newest Pixel hardware devices.
What fills your time now - professionally and personally?
Boxing, Soccer, Writing, and some film projects
Did you have any research/internship opportunities and/or professor/mentor relationships that were influential?
My relationship with my thesis advisor, Nicole Newendorp, has been extremely influential in how I model my professional relationships with peers, managers, and higher-ups. The ability to have productive and constructive feedback over a long term project like my thesis really prepared me to mirror that kind of dynamic and working relationships at work. The exposure I got from completing such a long-term project under the tutelage of an expert in the social sciences prepared me to do the best learning when starting off my career. I knew how to receive feedback on projects I felt a lot of ownership over and respond to feedback proactively.
What advice do you have for someone applying to college?
The best way to approach college is to welcome new opportunities within your interests, but to also welcome new questions and possibilities. Focus on going to a college or program where you can do both. So much will change over the next 4 years, so look forward to new things!
