Farah AfifyCategory HFAI
Hello! My name is Farah Afify, and I am a first-year student living in Pennypacker. I was born just outside of Cairo, Egypt but have lived in the Detroit metropolitan area for the past 16 years. Though I'm not quite sure what I plan to study yet, I am currently looking into social studies, government, or economics as well as a language citation in Arabic. Outside of classes, I am mainly interested in community service and advocacy through the Philips Brooks House Association (PBHA), a non-profit on campus that links students to service programs in the Greater Boston area and beyond. Through PBHA, I find my greatest joy tutoring immigrant and refugee children. I am also a member of the Society of Arab Students and the Harvard Islamic Society, two communities that have helped me build a family here at Harvard. In my free time, you can usually find me chatting away with strangers at Annenberg, the freshman dining hall, or scaling buildings trying to find the best view of Harvard at night (I have a running list!). Without the help of the Harvard Financial Aid Initiative, none of this would have been possible for me (especially those amazing late night views!), so I am beyond excited to help you as you embark on your own college application journey! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
