Hi! I’m Malia, and I’m a junior in Kirkland House (Khaus best house)! I’m from a little mountain town called Coeur d’Alene, in northern Idaho. I came to college thinking I wanted to study Psychology, or maybe Social Studies, but I’m now a happy Hist & Lit concentrator, with a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy! On campus, I’m very involved in Strong Women, Strong Girls, through PBHA, and I give tours of campus. I also work for the Admissions & Financial Aid Office as a Digital Media Intern. When I’m not studying, I love to write, read, and bake—I’m lucky to have a full kitchen in Dewolfe! As a first-gen, low-income student, I definitely didn’t know how to navigate the college admissions process, and I had no idea what to expect when I got to college. To my pleasant surprise, I truly feel like I belong here at Harvard, and am so grateful to be here! I’m happy to talk about being from a first-gen/low-income background, public service, working on campus, or anything else!
