“Coming from a completely unbiased perspective, Eliot has the best community of all the houses. From the top down, deans, tutors, building, dining hall staff, and other students are incredibly welcoming from the moment they learn you're going to be in Eliot. There's a strong sense of mutual respect, admiration, and kindness that flows throughout the Eliot community, and each member of Eliot works hard to make the house truly feel like a home."

"For all Kirklanders, Kirkland House truly becomes a home during the three years they spend here. There’s nothing quite like walking into the dining hall and seeing tons of friendly, familiar faces. Fellow Kirklanders will actually take the time to wave and say hi to you. With our small house size and comfortable, bright, and cozy dining hall, Kirkland is a place of community and friendship."

Winthrop is known for elaborate events such as Throptober, a fun fall festival with games and seasonal treats, and the Arbella Ball, a formal dance. Tutors are also very involved in the Winthrop community, hosting events such as chocolate tastings. Luckily for students, Winthrop is filled with newly renovated hallway singles, which means that Winthrop offers the perfect balance of community and privacy. Other amenities include a house library, the Winthrop grille, an art room, a gym, and more.

"Currier only has one entrance, which means that all residents have to walk by the dining hall, fostering a strong sense of community. There are all kinds of fun spaces in Currier, including the Fishbowl movie room, a Makerspace, and many different lounge areas. Another perk of Currier is that your friends will probably be jealous of your rooming situation. Most residents live in single rooms, which are rare in other Houses. Currier also hosts many events throughout the year, such as the Heaven and Hell Halloween party, Currioke (karaoke) night, and steins."

"Pfoho? Pfohome. There's so much to love about Pfoho. The endless ‘pf’ puns, our beloved polar bear mascot, the many events and traditions - everything about Pfoho feels uniquely special. By pfar, the best thing about Pfoho is our community. Our House Staff, Pfaculty Deans, and Tutors put their hearts into running house events every single week, from Sunday night Open Houses to early morning tea-drinking and poetry-sharing sessions. Despite our psets, essays, and various commitments, Pfoho students drop what they are doing to come together several times each week and appreciate the wonderful community we are pfortunate enough to call our own."

Cabot contains fun spaces like an art room, an “Under the Sea” study space, and the Cabot Cafe. Need a late-night caffeine boost and a break from studying? Head to Cabot Cafe for a variety of coffee and tea drinks. Cabot traditions and events include Festivus, a holiday celebration, and Semper Corpse, a Halloween-themed play. The tutors and faculty deans are also very involved in the House community, putting on events such as karaoke night.

Lowell House is perhaps best known for Lowell Tea. Each Thursday, students can enjoy fresh baked goods and tea at the Faculty Deans’ Residence. Other notable Lowell events include the winter Yule Ball, Mayday celebrations, a glow-in-the-dark party called Glowell, and the Bacchanalia toga party. Lowell seeks to create community between Lowellians, and in the past the House has paid for students to get meals out together. Lowell HoCo is also very active, and tutors frequently organize fun outings, such as museum visits. The House is newly renovated and offers spacious suites. One iconic feature is the Lowell bell tower.

Adams House has a warm, welcoming community, and HoCo puts on weekly Carpe steins featuring food, drinks, and activities each Thursday night. Every December, Adams also hosts Winter Feast, a House-wide black tie dinner. The House is currently undergoing renovations, which means that new Adams residents will live in newly updated rooms. Adams also has its own printing press, theater, gym, library, and more.

Quincy has a convenient, central location and is the only upperclassman House with hot breakfast. Weekly events include festas (steins) and community dinners. Some annual traditions to look forward to are a House-wide field day competition and a lip sync battle. Quincy is a renovated House with a variety of housing options, from singles to multi-level suites. The Qube library and the dining hall serve as popular study and hang out spaces, and the House even has a pottery studio. Need a late night snack? Quincy Grille has you covered.

Renovated less than ten years ago, Leverett is the largest House and offers spacious rooms in both McKinlock Hall and the Towers. Leverett students have larger common rooms and bedrooms than residents of most other Houses. Leverett has lots of spaces where students can study or hang out with friends. Residents often spend time in the Rabbit Hole lounge, playing pool or testing out new recipes in the kitchen. Leverett also has a Library Theater that doubles as a stage and a music practice room.

If you live in Mather, you will probably be lucky enough to have a single or your own bedroom within a suite. The dining hall is the center of Mather life, and the Junior Common Room is a popular social and party space. In addition to a gym and library, Mather also has music rooms, a pottery studio, and a meditation room. HoCo hosts Happy Hours (steins) with fun snacks and drinks, and the House staff organizes Doggy Happy Hours with the resident dogs. You can also look forward to events such as Mather Lather and Fall Fest.

Dunster House is one of the most iconic Harvard buildings and hosts a variety of weekly and annual events, such as steins and a Halloween trick-or-treat event. Another notable event is the Goat Roast, which includes a barbecue and a roast (joke) session. Dunster is the perfect balance of traditional and modern. It is recently renovated, yet features dark wood paneling and leather furniture. It also boasts a strong community. By the time you’re a junior or senior, you’ll likely live in a single or a suite with friends. There are lots of room layouts to choose from!
