Molecular and Cellular Biology

Hello! My name is Kathleen Bellon Pizarro, and I’m a sophomore concentrating in Molecular and Cellular Biology on the pre-med track. I’m currently living in Mather House (the best house!), but I’ve spent time growing up in both Montana and Texas over the years. Outside of classes, I’m involved in Primus (Harvard’s first-gen/low-income student union), peer health education, biomedical research, intramural volleyball, and various Latinx groups on campus. Personally, I didn’t really get in touch with my first-gen identity until my senior year of high school, when I started applying to colleges. I quickly realized that I had no idea how to write college essays, send test scores, or fill out financial aid forms. Reaching out to the right people and resources was intimidating and confusing--which is why I now work with the Harvard First Generation Program (HFGP), to tackle that barrier. I’m here to offer my support from a first-gen perspective as you enter this complicated, but ultimately rewarding, application process. Please don’t be afraid to reach out with any questions you may have--we here at HFGP are always just an email away!
