Welcome to the biological laboratories, known to many as the Bio Labs. As a college student majoring in life sciences, I've come to see these labs as a second home, trekking the 20-minute journey from Winthrop House to attend lecture and section.

For starters, the Bio Labs is the heart for undergraduate life science concentrators. Here, I attend the introductory course for Integrative Biology majors, OEB 10, or "Foundations of Biological Diversity". This course is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the wealth of knowledge and learning experiences that you can find here!

Beyond classrooms, the Bio Labs lives up to its name with numerous research labs. These spaces are bustling with innovative research conducted by  faculty and graduate students- many of whom may also happen to be your section TF's for some courses. It's a place where new scientific frontiers are explored daily!

Surprisingly, the Bio Labs isn't all about serious academic work. Upon approaching the building, you'll find a lively volleyball court and an array of picnic tables. These spots offer a perfect setting to unwind, enjoy a meal, or have fun chats with friends and colleagues. In the fall the Bio Labs becomes one of the most picturesque places as the leaves turn a vibrant red and orange. Despite its lab-like interior, which can seem a bit overwhelming at first, the Bio Labs is also warm and friendly. The courtyard, for instance, has been the venue for numerous department events. One memorable event even had the rhinos decorated as flamingos!

Once inside, you're greeted by a quaint cafeteria. It's a cozy spot to eat fly-by from Annenberg or grab a cup of coffee, courtesy of the Bio Labs. This little nook is a comfortable break spot for students who don't want to return to their dorms and would rather find a place to settle and do work!

In essence, the Bio Labs is more than just a building; it's a vibrant community. It's a place where learning, research, and social activities intertwine, creating a unique environment that caters to both the academic and social needs of students. Whether you're there for a class, research, or just to hang out, the Bio Labs is a place where every life science student can feel at home
