After spending a semester away, it is good to be home. That is truly what Harvard has become.
Though I would not trade my semester in Paris for anything, home was calling. The City of Love and Lights taught me so much about myself, but mostly it gave me a hunger to come back to Harvard and finish strong. As a senior, I’ll be having my series of lasts at Harvard and I sometimes wish I could make the clock stop, for even just a second.
As I look back at my time at Harvard, through the years I notice not the moments, but more so the people that surrounded me during those moments. Harvard gave me a family, a group of people that I could count on, my blockmates, friends, sisters. Yes Harvard also has given me a top-notch education and the tools to excel on whatever path I go off to next. But the secret, the secret is in the people that are admitted.
As I think about the people that surround me, they all come from various walks of life, differing life stories, but all with a drive to succeed. Those people that have made Harvard home keep me motivated and grounded in my own beliefs. It’s both exciting and sad that this will be my last year at Harvard. Nonetheless I know this year will be filled with memories that I’ll cherish for years to come.
Here’s a little lists of lasts for this fall semester:
-
Last First day of school (unless I decide to go to grad school of course)
-
Last time living in Eliot House with my 13 best friends
-
Last Harvard-Yale game as an undergraduate
