Moving from California to Boston, one of my biggest goals was to curate a list of my favorite food places in Boston.
And this is basically my mini list of my top 5 favorite food spots in Cambridge and Boston. If you're ever in the area, feel free to check any of these out!
Starting off strong with a classic - we have Joe’s pizza. Most Harvard students are split between Joe’s or Pinocchio's, another fantastic pizza place in Harvard Square, but I fall more towards Joe’s. If you like a thinner, New York style crust like I do, then you’ll really enjoy Joe’s. One of my favorite memories from Joe’s was was getting a slice with a friend at 1AM after our midterm, and walking around the Charles River while we feasted. Best post-midterm bliss.
Probably my favorite Thai restaurant near campus. It's always packed after 5PM but it’s truly worth the wait. My personal favorite is the Tom Yum Soup because I’m a spice lover. Whenever I'm getting over a cold or meeting up with friends from other schools, I always find myself at Sugar & Spice. 10/10.
As a Korean American from Koreatown, Los Angeles, my biggest mission coming to Boston was to find great Korean food. Seoul SulongTang is my go-to when I’m craving home-cooked meals. It reminds me a lot of food back home and it’s always nice to have a nice soup, especially when the weather gets colder.
The most recent restaurant added to my list! Barcelona Wine Bar is a tapas bar inspired by Mediterranean, Spanish, and South American cuisine. I went for the first time a couple of weeks back to celebrate a friend's birthday and the combination of lovely atmosphere with amazing food made for an amazing experience. I’d definitely recommend going with a group of friends - the food comes out in small tapas so you have the opportunity to try a variety of different dishes.
I know this ice cream place blew up on TikTok because every time I go to get Berryline, there’s a giant line wrapping around the street. Although the frozen yogurt and ice cream are phenomenal (enough for me to suffer through my mild lactose intolerance), Berryline has a special place in my heart because of my memory of the first time I went. I was with my now close friend, Sarah. It was one of the first times we had met, and I remember sitting on the steps with our ice cream, talking for hours on end, and walking away thinking that I couldn’t wait to do that again. Two years later and Berryline still remains one of our favorite go-to places.
This was a (somewhat short) list of my top five favorite food spots and memories in Cambridge and the greater Boston area. If you’re ever in the area, I hope you consider checking any of these places out!
